The countdown is on for one of the biggest celebrations of Ugandan culture in the diaspora as the Uganda Cultural Festival 2026 returns on Saturday, July 25, bringing together Ugandans and friends of Uganda for a vibrant day of culture, music, dance, food and community. The festival is organised by the Uganda Tristate Community Association (UTCA), an organisation that serves Ugandan communities across the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Each year, the association brings together Ugandans and friends of Uganda to celebrate the country’s rich cultural heritage while strengthening community bonds in the diaspora.
Headlining this year’s festival will be accomplished Ugandan cultural legend Sam Nalangira, who will be joined by the Dam Nalangira Cultural Dance Troupe for what organisers say will be a captivating showcase of Uganda’s traditional music, dance and storytelling. Their performance is expected to be one of the festival’s major highlights, celebrating the diversity and vibrancy of Uganda’s many cultures.
Beyond the cultural performances, the festival will also serve as a networking event designed to bring together members of the Ugandan diaspora to reconnect, build relationships and strengthen community ties. The gathering comes just a week after the world’s biggest sporting event, providing an ideal opportunity for families, professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders to celebrate their shared heritage while expanding personal and professional networks.
The festival also presents an excellent opportunity for businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and services to a diverse audience through UTCA’s marketing platform. Organisations interested in partnering with the festival or supporting the event are invited to contact the organisers for collaboration opportunities.
- Festival organisers have reminded attendees that ticket sales will close on July 19, and no tickets will be available at the entrance on the day of the event. Guests are therefore encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
- Visitors travelling from outside the area are encouraged to make accommodation arrangements early at the Hilton Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, using the UTCA group booking code to access the festival accommodation package.
