With over two decades of experience spanning Africa, North America, and the Caribbean, Lilliane has built an extraordinary career in international finance. Today, she serves as Chief Financial Officer at Inkomoko, a social enterprise transforming lives across the continent through entrepreneurship. Last year Lilliane was the proud recipient of the Uganda Diaspora Award alongside other notable Ugandans.
Lilliane’s journey began in Kampala, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Makerere University. As a fresh graduate, she joined PwC Uganda as a trainee accountant, laying the groundwork for what would become a global career.
Seeking to expand her expertise, she moved to London to earn her ACCA qualification, a pivotal step that opened doors to international leadership opportunities.
A global career in finance
Her career took her to New York and Toronto, where she worked with PwC New York and later spent 14 years at Scotiabank, one of North America’s leading financial institutions.
At Scotiabank, she played a key role in shaping global finance policies, reporting standards, and major reorganisation and transformation projects across 17 Caribbean markets. Her work strengthened financial systems and modernised banking operations in emerging economies.

Answering Africa’s call
Despite her international success, Africa remained central to her vision.
In 2023, Lilliane returned to the continent to join Inkomoko as Chief Financial Officer. The organisation works with entrepreneurs and displaced communities across Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Chad, providing business training, access to financing, and advocacy support.
To date, Inkomoko has invested over US$24 million in affordable capital, supported more than 100,000 entrepreneurs, and improved the lives of approximately 1.2 million people. Recently recognised by the Financial Times among Africa’s fastest-growing companies, the organisation’s Vision 2030 strategy aims to reach 550,000 entrepreneurs and impact 7.6 million lives.
Beyond titles
Lilliane’s achievements have been recognised globally, including a profile in ACCA’s AB Magazine highlighting her cross-continental leadership and commitment to integrity in finance.
Yet beyond her professional designations — FCCA, CPA (U), CPA (Canada) — she remains grounded in the lessons she learned as a young girl helping in her parents’ shop in Kampala.
“That’s where I first understood what discipline, trust, and accountability really mean,” she reflects.
As a Uganda Diaspora Homecoming Gala honouree, Lilliane represents a growing generation of Ugandans proving that global success can meaningfully contribute to transformation at home.
